How to create an external dns server with Amazon Route 53

Created by Xaus Xavier Nadal on December 9th, 2014

Creating an external dns server with Amazon Route 53 is as simple as having an Amazon AWS account and following the steps that we will show you next, but first of all, what is Route 53 and what is Route53 for?

Amazon Route 53 It is a DNS service in the public cloud.

Amazon Route 53Amazon Route 53 is normally used to load balance (ELB) between EC2 instances, map EC2 instances or simply map S3 buckets, but in this article we are going to use the power of a DNS in Cloud to secure our environment, to have scalability in a service as sensitive as DNS and have high availability.

But Amazon Route 53 goes further and leaves us the possibility by Health Check to monitor the life and performance of our Web applications, for example if you have 2 instances EC2 (web server) and one of the webs stops we operate can by Route 53 immediately redirect traffic to another instance to continue offering service.

It also leaves us the possibility to buy domains (Although as personal comment I would like more extensions were available and better prices). But you know that when closer the DNS server, the domain web server fewer hops should make a customer and better latencies have to open the web before the competition always remember the good practices of SEO.

Benefits of having a DNS server on the public cloud as a service.

1.- not affected by viruses (In the absence of an operating system controlled by us is safer by definition).

2.- No system updates (We saved maintenance).

3.-No failures have 0-day in Microsoft Windows.

4.- And as I said the CTO of NASA "We rely more on Amazon than in our own infrastructure for securing our systems".

5.- Operating costs tend to 0.

6.- The cost of mounting an instance EC2 t2.micro is like riding 27 areas (domains) on Amazon Route 53.

Show only products on Prestashop Product List

Created by Xaus Xavier Nadal on November 29th, 2014

Show alone products in product listings Prestashop oddly it should be easy and there should be a specific configuration for that, is not it.

In the current version 1.6.0.9 to 29 / 11 / 2014 we not have this functionality and we touch the code to get our current issue that only products we have available are visible to the public.

What we want to show only products available?

For only so that potential buyers do not have to be sailing and discarding products you will not be able to buy, it is true, the known and may purchase or request the customer of the store, but also can do if are the product, the SEO by this configuration will not be affected because the products through search engine also continue to exist only modify the view of products within a category.

Surely there are several methods to perform the same action, but I'll leave that I have implemented some of my stores and if you have a better solution please Send it, or write a comment in the article.

We will explain how to do this little modification.

How to show available products only on Prestashop.

The first thing to get is access to FTP and edit the file product-list.tpl

We look for the following string:

{Foreach from = $ products = product item name = products}

We add this line right below the following code:

{If $ product.quantity> 0}

Now we seek the end of foreach and add the following line just before the {/ foreach}

{/ If}

With this we will make in the product list only the available products are displayed.

One drawback of this solution is that if we have several product pages settings pages where products should be visible but have hidden will still appear. If someone comes and fix the prestashop community will thank you.

Greetings and see you soon MegaCracks.

By the way I leave the link to one of my new store online https://www.todenka.com where we have applied this functionality. We hope you like and we buy some some article.

404 Error Found in Magento Admin Login after Upgrade Hosting

Created by Xaus Xavier Nadal on July 6th, 2014

good morning

Yesterday I found this problem when migrating from an online store with Magento to another hosting, we migrated database, we migrated files, check routes and everything worked fine until we entered the admin panel Magento where the error appeared 404 Error Page Not Found in Magento admin.

To solve this problem all you have to do is execute the following SQL statement from your PHPMyAdmin.

SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS = 0;
UPDATE SET core_store store_id = 0 WHERE code = 'admin';
UPDATE SET core_store_group group_id = 0 WHERE name = 'Default';
UPDATE SET core_website website_id = 0 WHERE code = 'admin';
UPDATE SET customer_group customer_group_id = 0 WHERE customer_group_code = 'Not logged in';
SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS = 1;

I hope you have been helpful.

See you soon.

When we run out of free space on Centos there are several ways to detect where we use space but we will show you which is the fastest and most effective for us and also with tidy result.

For example we will see that the folder is normally occupies the / Backup folder / home (where the email and files of the websites and the / var where they reside databases and log files are stored.

First we show the command to be used to detect free space is as follows:

df -h

How to see free space on Centos

With this command we see that we have room Total, used, available and percentage in use.

And the command for detecting that the directory is used is as follows:
