Upgrading to Windows solution 7 63% of the process

Posted by Xaus Xavier Nadal 31st on October 2009

Good,

To not say, I installed windows 7 some time ago, but now what I've done is upgrade from a Windows Vista Enterprise edition to a Windows 7 (As information only you can upgrade to a Professional version, Enterprise or Ultimate, not you can upgrade to a different version to the branch that you have now) for example the Home version ye can only upgrade to Home Premium and Ultimate. But yes, the solution that will expose in this paper is feasible for any operating system version.

Well the problem came when after 2 hours waiting in front of a 63% by 64% of the installation there has been no change. The problem was with the Broadcom NIC that causes an error in the iphlpvsvc service and causing a timeout seconds on each retry 30.000 causing almost "hang" of the update.

If we this blockade ( "Hang") appears as usual will press the X to close the update, but at this time indicates that possibly the computer unusable. Do not worry, Shut off the computer "brute force" and the system will be able to detect that an update was in process, perform a rollback and leave the system as to the period before the product update time.

Currently with Windows Vista booted we add a variable to the system as follows:

Click the right mouse button on Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables -> en System variables -> New ->

Write down the name variable field: MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS

Write down the value of the variable field: IphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll.

Now I recommend you desconectéis the network cable and you pull back the operating system upgrade.

I hope it been usefull.

No heap up this option if the system you have been left to 62-63 %%.

See you soon.
